How Salisbury Street Day Nursery identifies children with Special Educational needs and disabilities• First visit/ Induction with Key person, questionnaire to be filled in.
• Each child has a key person who carries out observations and assessments, these observations are individual to each child and link to the EYFS Curriculum.
• Child’s key person will seek advice from the nurseries Trained SENCO if they have concerns.
• The SENCO will assess and record the child’s development along with the key person. The key person and SENCO will arrange a private meeting with parents/carers to discuss their child’s development. Parental permission will be needed to get other professional agencies involved. If parents/carers have English as an individual language they will be supported by an interpreter.
